Compatibility and FAQ for Tarot Readings
In order to provide prospective clients, sitters, friends, and collaborators with more details about what a reading with me would involve, I offer the following thoughts and philosophies. To learn more about me, please see the About Rina section here on my site.
I have been practicing Reiki and reading tarot for almost ten years.
My approach to the cards is heavily influenced by such teachers/writers as Jessica Dore, Lindsay Mack, T. Susan Chang, Rachel Pollack, and Josephine McCarthhy among others. I am also a developing medium and use my lifelong studies of mysticism and intuition to enhance my interpretation of the cards.
Using the Rider Waite Smith deck and others, I pull cards and give "my" reading in answer to your questions, or to provide an inspirational, detailed message from Spirit. I believe that tarot is for our highest and best good, and my readings aim to be empowering and grace-filled, even when difficult cards may appear. I use "my" in quotation marks because I believe the messages come from Spirit and I do not want to push the idea of guru-ship or hierarchy when it comes to divination.
I see the tarot as a dialogue with one’s fate…a way to engage with the energies and circumstances all around us. Tarot can show us what we have been unwilling or afraid to see, but will do so in a loving, grounded manner. It can help us to meet that fate in the best possible way so that instead of constantly feeling like we need to use the cards to “predict” our destiny…we can instead explore tarot wisdom to help us navigate it. Do readings sometimes offer a glimpse of what is coming…sure. But it is not my goal or process to make big, bold predictions meant to shock or scare. I do not control the information that comes through, but I promise to help interpret it in a respectful way. Love is the end game.
Ideally, we would all learn to read tarot for ourselves and trust our own intuition. That being said, I believe that at times we are all in need of an "oracle"...Someone to look for and interpret messages on our behalf as a springboard or life boat. I am honored to do that in the space of a tarot reading and take this opportunity to read for you both seriously and playfully all at once.
Because I live in a state where tarot is dismissed easily as “fortune telling” and therefore suspect, as are many things done by women considered to be in any way “witchy”…I have to state that readings are for “entertainment purposes only.” But we know the real story!
Speaking of entertainment, readings can be done in a spirit of fun and lightheartedness so I have done and am open to doing group readings at parties, etc. Remember that the cards can occasionally evoke strong emotions or require some privacy, so keep that in mind when thinking about having a tarot reader at your event.
I have two main ways of delivering readings. One is through spreads (several of which I will post on here or on instagram). Some spreads do not need specific question because the layout and pattern will provide comprehensive insights into overall life situations. With these spreads (especially longer spreads), I can either type up my reading or we can do it via dialogue. There are benefits to both methods. Zoom and in person options are available.
Another option is to send me a specific question and I will use the cards to do my best to gain insight. Again, I can type a response or we can dialogue.
I recommend taking my Intro to Tarot course which I offer several times a year. This way, not only can you learn to read for yourself, but when you feel like you would like another set of eyes on a circumstance that may be weighing on you, you will have learned more about the cards and the reading will resonate even more.
