Welp there it is.
This was my spread the morning of election day.
I was a bit hopeful that the Three of
Cups was a good sign...kind of a victory to the goddess omen, it is a very feminine, communal card. Integrate all parts of the self and celebrate, that is one interpretation.
On a normal day.
Tarot can show what we want but will always show what is here.
The look on the face of the queen did concern me, especially since she is staring in the direction of the three.
This queen is not of a country but something much bigger: of the soul, of the waters, the heart, the emotions, and she always knows the deepest secrets of a thing.
The nine of wands should have been the biggest sign, especially in the last position. It is a very defensive stance, he has a bandage over his third eye, where the intuition should be. It is blocked.
If I knew nothing about US history past and present, was an alien tarot reader from Mars come to visit earth and someone asked me about the spread, I would say it shows disparity to say the least, a stark contrast between what could be and what is.
In retrospect it is easy. I would love to think we were about to elect a woman president for the first time, and that this woman could unite the pain caused by...too much to get into here. But the wounds in the Nine here perfectly reflect the woundedness of a very hurting and divided country--Battles past and present that prevent the intimacy and celebration possible in the three. A country that has so many deep wounds and scars that it has refused to look meaningfully at, let alone heal. At the very least (maybe oddly most hopeful?) the nine suggests to me a pause.
Nines are pauses, serious calls to stop and think about what should happen next.
The three of cups shows what is possible, the nine shows what is here and I see the queen in the middle holding a holy container full of secrets. Queens show us how to integrate and embody. How not to numb out. Personally, she is my Mary card, not a plastic submissive Mary but the Mary of the Magnificat. What is she willing into existence as she holds what is precious in her hands. And how can we serve Her.
